🧰 Stripped Thread
A screw hole (or screw head) that no longer holds because the threads have been chewed out — most often in a plastic part.
Plastic parts are self-tapping: drive the screw in slowly and stop the moment it seats rather than torquing it down. A stripped plastic hole can often be saved with a slightly longer screw or a plastic-safe filler; stripped alloy usually needs a thread insert or a new part.
