💬 Maiden
The first run or flight of a brand-new or newly built model.
Strongest in the RC aircraft community ("maiden flight"), but used for a first shakedown run of any new build. Do a full pre-run check first — most maiden disasters are loose or reversed things that a five-minute check would have caught.
What it actually does
A maiden is the first flight or first run of a new model. It carries its own name in the hobby because it is the moment everything you assembled gets tested at once, and the moment when careful preparation pays off or does not.
In practice
The tradition is to make it deliberately boring: check control directions, check the center of gravity on aircraft, do a range check, and keep the first outing gentle and close. Trim it out, land or come in, then look over the whole model before going again.
Worth knowing
Most maiden failures come from something checkable on the bench — reversed controls, a wrong CG, a loose linkage. A slow pre-flight beats a fast repair.
