Motors running hot

Motors are noticeably hot to the touch after a normal flight.

💡 The idea: D-term amplifying noise is the most common cause — check that first.

Try these in order

Make one change at a time and re-test — that's how you learn what your car likes.

  1. 1
    Lower D gain

D amplifies noise — always check for hot motors after raising D, per Bardwell/Betaflight docs.

  2. 2
Check/tighten filtering (dynamic notch, gyro/D lowpass)

Unfiltered noise reaching the motors is a major heat driver.

  3. 3
Check motor idle % and prop/motor match

Too-low idle or a mismatched prop load also causes heat.
