Losing radio range on water
The boat glitches or loses connection out on the water, especially at distance.
💡 The idea: Water attenuates signal hard — protect the antenna and pick the right band.
Try these in order
Make one change at a time and re-test — that's how you learn what your car likes.
-
1
Run a full-length, uncut antenna taped along the hull side
A cut/shortened antenna is a common self-inflicted cause.
-
2
Use a surface-rated radio system (72/75MHz FM, or 2.4GHz surface-specific)
Plain air 2.4GHz attenuates badly near/on water.
-
3
Keep the receiver antenna 2"+ from ESC/motor wiring, and check the transmitter battery
Both are common overlooked causes of glitching.
