How RC Crash Crew works
One free home for your rigs, builds, crashes, repairs, parts, setups, batteries, crews, events, shops, marketplace, tools & knowledge. Build it, break it, fix it, find your people.
Your rigs remember everything โ automatically
Everywhere else, your build is scattered across forum posts, spreadsheets and your memory. Here, every rig has a living identity โ it knows what it started as and every part, setup, battery, crash, repair and run it's ever had. And it stays current on its own: log a single run and your batteries gain a cycle, your motor clocks its runtime, your rig's hours tick up and your maintenance countdowns move โ no entering anything twice. That connected history is what makes the RC Crew AI actually useful, and it's the one thing no forum can copy.
Start here โ five steps
The whole flow, from empty garage to an AI that knows your truck.
Add your rig
Pick your vehicle from the Model Database and the factory specs fill themselves in. Add your parts, gearing, tunes and photos โ structured and searchable, not buried in a forum post.
Log your gear once
Add your LiPos and electronics one time. Each gets its own Passport that tracks health, cycles and runtime for the rest of its life โ perfect for selling used gear later, too.
Go run, then log it
This is the magic: one Run Log entry and everything updates itself. Your batteries gain a cycle, your motor clocks its runtime, your rig's hours tick up and maintenance countdowns move. No double entry, ever.
Break it, fix it, share it
Log the crash, track the repair, write up the build. It all attaches to that rig's dossier so the whole story stays in one place โ and helps the next person who sends it too hard.
Ask the RC Crew AI
The AI reads that rig's real history โ its parts, setups, runs and crashes โ and answers "why's it pulling left?" from YOUR data, not generic internet guesses. Your pit-side expert.
Everything you can do here
Free tools for every part of the hobby โ from your first kit to your hundredth crash. All of it, always free.
Your garage โ build once, it remembers
Rig Builder
Log every rig with parts, gearing, tunes and photos. Pick a factory model, or snap a few photos and let the AI start it for you, and the specs prefill.
Rig Dossier
Every rig's whole life in one timeline โ parts, setups, runs, crashes, repairs and total $ invested.
Run Log
Log a bash, race, crawl or flight. It auto-ages your batteries, components and rig, and shows exactly what you changed on your setup since last run โ and whether it worked.
Fleet View
Your entire RC world on one screen, with a "needs your attention" panel for anything due or worn, plus a get-started checklist that guides your first steps.
Dossier completeness
Each rig shows the owner a "dossier XX% complete" bar with a nudge list โ fill in specs, a photo, parts and setups so the rig knows its whole story (and so the AI can too).
Stock vs Mine
See exactly how your rig differs from the factory build, part by part.
AI Rig Inspector
Right when you add a rig โ or any time after, from its edit page โ upload a few photos and the AI tries to identify the chassis and body, spot likely upgrades (motor, ESC, wheels), and draft a condition report, leaving blank whatever it can't tell. One click copies any of it in. Nothing saves without you choosing to.
Gear that tracks itself
Battery Passport
Health score, cycle count, internal resistance and puff history for every pack. Runs add cycles automatically.
Component Passport
Motors, ESCs and servos with lifetime runtime and full install history. Runs clock the hours for you.
Maintenance reminders
Set "service bearings every 1 hour" and it counts down from real runtime โ then resets when you service it.
Setup Sheets
Save and clone full tuning sheets per track, compare any two side-by-side to see what changed, and print a clean pit-board PDF for the drivers' stand. Never re-guess a good setup.
Parts Catalog
Real parts with real part numbers, what they fit and what supersedes them. Link a part to your rig and see every rig in the crew that runs it. Star-rate and review any part โ verified owners (it's on one of their rigs) get a badge.
Model Database
Factory specs for real RC models, so your build starts from the truth โ plus member star-ratings and reviews, with a verified-owner badge for members who've actually built that model.
Identify My RC
Not sure exactly what you've got? Narrow it down by type, scale, era and brand โ or just upload a photo. AI describes what it sees and matches it against our real model database, and honestly says "no confident match" rather than guessing.
Comp Classes
New to competition? A plain-English guide to RC crawler classes โ 1.9 Scale, 2.2, Super, Trail, Rock Racer and Micro โ what defines each and where to find the rules.
Scale Score
Tick the scale detail your crawler actually has โ mirrors, winch, hi-lift, jerry cans, a driver figure โ for a scale-realism score shown on the rig. A self-assessment; official comps use the sanctioning body's sheet.
Break it, fix it, share it
Crash Bay
Real crash reports โ what broke, why, and how it got fixed, so the whole crew learns.
Repair Desk
Track repairs and turn a busted part into a how-to the next person can follow โ and mark the crew comment that actually fixed it.
Build Garage
Document builds start to finish and show off the work โ add staged chapters (planning โ chassis โ electronics โ paint โ shakedown) with the cost of each, for a running total invested and a % complete.
Guides
Beginner-to-pro guides on batteries, motors, radios, suspension, tuning and LiPo safety.
RC Wiki
The community knowledge base โ how-tos, reference and symptom โ fix troubleshooting, kept current and revision-tracked by the crew. RC Crew AI also researches and publishes its own articles every couple of days โ always tagged ๐ค so you know what you're reading, and any trusted member can improve one.
Tuning Guide
Car pushing, loose, or traction-rolling? Pick the symptom and get the fixes to try in order, with the reason each one works.
RC Glossary
New to RC? Every term and acronym โ LiPo, Kv, FDR, blinky, camber โ in plain English, cross-linked to the wiki and tuning guide. The same definitions pop up as a hover/tap tooltip right on the technical fields across the site (Setup Sheets, Battery Passport, Calculators) โ you never have to leave the page to look something up.
File Library
Free downloads โ setup sheets, manuals, decals and 3D-print files, shared by the crew and delivered as safe downloads. Link a file to a model and it shows up right on that model's page. 3D-print files can carry the maker's print settings (material, layer, infill, temps) and a full bill of materials, link to a rig you used them on, and credit the file they're a remix of.
Photos
Share the shots โ your rigs, your runs, your carnage. Compressed automatically so they load fast.
Paint Shop
Every RC body technique in plain English โ backing, masking, hairspray chipping, oil washes, dry-brush, salt weathering, pigments, decals and candy coats โ each with a real how-to and a gallery of member shells. Tag your painted photos to add them.
Videos
Share runs and builds by embedding from YouTube, Vimeo, Facebook or Streamable โ nothing to upload.
Find your people & places
Your language
The site works worldwide. English is the default everywhere; pick Espaรฑol, Franรงais, Deutsch or Portuguรชs from the footer and the menus, buttons and homepage switch languages โ the link stays on the same page, just translated. Member posts (wiki, forums, listings) stay in the language they were written in, same as YouTube or Reddit, since a mistranslated safety warning is worse than none.
Places to run
A live map of tracks, bash spots, crawler parks, boat ponds and FPV fields near you โ with free street, satellite and terrain views.
Live Sessions
See who's running right now and where โ then roll out and join them.
Race Results
Run a club race free: online entry lists, auto-generated heat sheets, permanent results pages, and season championship standings. Every driver gets a race-history rรฉsumรฉ. No timing hardware.
Race Calendar & Archive
See upcoming race nights on the calendar and add any one to your phone (Google or .ics). Browse the full archive of past results by year, class and series โ every race is a permanent page.
Driver Rankings & Career
Every posted result rolls into a cross-event driver rankings ladder by class (points, wins, podiums, best finish), and each racer gets a career rรฉsumรฉ on their profile โ wins, podiums and average finish across every event.
Hobby Shops
Discover RC shops with brands, services and coupons. Owners claim their page free โ it can be their whole website.
Free Storefronts
Any claimed shop gets a full free online store โ a page builder with their own colors and logo, products, cart and checkout. Payment runs through the STORE'S OWN Stripe/PayPal/manual setup, so 100% of every sale goes to them โ we never touch the money. Comes with a real admin panel: products, orders, employees, shipping rules, a contacts list they can export, a newsletter, a blog, and their own events โ free, because a shop's RCC page can just be their website.
Marketplace
Buy and sell rigs and gear. Non-custodial โ sellers use their own payment setup, we never touch the money. Mark listings Available โ Pending โ Sold, leave ๐/๐ trader feedback that rolls up into a public trader reputation page (% positive across every deal), and see a real "what it sold for" price archive.
Saved searches
Hunting a specific rig or part? Save your marketplace search and get a notification the moment matching gear is listed.
Watch threads
Following a discussion? Hit Watch on any forum thread to get pinged on every new reply โ never miss an answer.

Time Trials & Gate Comps
Standardized courses you set up at home โ crawler lines, drift boxes, bash sprints โ each with a printable set-up sheet and a global leaderboard. Post your time, or run a golf-style gate comp (score your gates, touches and penalties) and see where you rank.
And the RC Crew AI ties it together
A free, members-only AI that reads your rig's real history and explains what works, what won't and why โ from gearing and LiPo safety to tuning and troubleshooting. Plus a full set of RC calculators for gearing, speed, LiPo, corner-weight, power and more.
Wait โ why is it free?
Because the RC hobby is built on people helping people. RC Crash Crew is community-backed and free forever โ no subscriptions, no paywalls, no selling your data. Hobby shops use their own payment setup, so we never touch a transaction. You get the tools; the crew gets bigger. That's the whole deal.
100% Free ยท ForeverQuestions? Answered.
The stuff people ask before they join.
Is RC Crash Crew really free?
Yes โ 100% free, forever. No subscriptions, no premium tier, no ads selling your data. Building your rigs, logging crashes, finding places to run and asking the RC AI all cost nothing.
What can I do on RC Crash Crew?
A lot โ all free. Build searchable rigs in the Rig Builder (pick a factory model and specs prefill); give every LiPo a Battery Passport and every motor/ESC/servo a Component Passport; save and clone tuning Setup Sheets; log runs, crashes, repairs and builds; look up real parts and part numbers in the Parts Catalog; find tracks and bash spots on the live map; see who is running right now; discover hobby shops; buy and sell in the Marketplace; join crews and events; read and write guides; and ask the members-only RC Crew AI about your specific rig.
Do I really have to enter everything twice?
No โ that is the whole point. Log one run and it updates everything for you: each battery you used gains a charge cycle, every component installed on that rig clocks its runtime, the rig's total hours tick up, and any maintenance countdowns move. One action, everything stays current. No spreadsheets, no double entry.
How does the RC Crew AI know about my rig?
Every rig keeps a living dossier โ what it started as plus every part, setup, battery, crash, repair and run. When you ask the AI a question it reads that real history, so instead of generic internet advice it can say things like "you already upgraded to a steel spur after stripping the stock one." It answers from YOUR truck, not a forum thread.
Can I install it on my phone?
Yes โ RC Crash Crew is a progressive web app. On Android/Chrome tap the "Install" hint (or the menu โ Install app); on iPhone use Share โ Add to Home Screen. It opens full-screen like a real app, loads fast, and the pages you've visited still open when you're offline at the track.
Do I need an account?
You can browse rigs, guides, the places map, the parts and model catalogs and hobby shops without an account. Join free to build your own rigs, give your gear passports, log runs and crashes, sell in the marketplace, and unlock the members-only RC Crew AI.
What kinds of RC does it cover?
All of it โ cars, trucks, crawlers, drift, monster, short course, boats, planes, drones and FPV, plus mini and micro. If you run it, break it and fix it, it belongs here.
Can my hobby shop get listed?
Yes. Anyone can add a hobby shop to the community map for free, and shop owners can claim their listing to get a verified badge, post coupons, and manage their page. It can even become the shop's full website at no cost.
What is the RC Crew AI?
A free, members-only AI assistant that knows RC. It can read your saved rig and explain what works, what won't and why โ from gearing and LiPo safety to tuning and troubleshooting.
Does AI write the Wiki?
Some of it. Alongside articles written by trusted crew members, RC Crew AI researches real RC parts and topics and publishes its own wiki articles every couple of days. Every AI-written article is clearly tagged ๐ค so you always know what you're reading, and any trusted member can edit or improve one โ same as any other article.
Can I message another member privately?
Yes โ hit "Message" on anyone's profile to start a private one-to-one conversation. The envelope icon in the top nav shows unread messages, and you can report a message straight to the moderators from inside the thread.
How do Group Buys work?
A trusted member proposes a bulk-buy deal โ an item, a unit price, and a target quantity. Other members commit how many they want, and the deal auto-marks "funded" the instant committed quantity hits the target. It's non-custodial: RC Crash Crew only tracks who's committed to what โ payment and shipping happen off-platform between the organizer and everyone who committed, same as the Marketplace.
How does Show & Shine judging work?
The mod team runs a themed contest with three windows: entries open, then close as voting opens, then voting closes and the winner is decided by vote count. Your entry photo comes straight from your own photo library โ no separate upload. You can't vote for your own entry, and one vote per member, changeable until voting closes.
Do you email me?
Only if you turn it on. The weekly digest is off by default โ flip it on in Settings and, once a week, if there's actually something new (your notifications, fresh crew activity), you'll get a short email. Nothing new means no email that week. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
How do I report a bug or ask for a feature?
Head to Feedback (members-only) โ submit a bug, feature idea, or general thought, vote on what other members have submitted, and follow the discussion. The team sets a real status (open/planned/in progress/done) and can reply right on the item.
Can AI identify my RC from a photo?
Yes โ on Identify My RC, upload a photo and the AI describes what it sees, then matches it against our real model database. If there's no visible brand or model text, it honestly says so instead of guessing โ same rule as everywhere else on the site: real matches only, never invented ones.
Can AI fill in my rig details from photos?
On your rig's edit page, the AI Rig Inspector lets you upload a few photos โ chassis, electronics, whatever shows the details โ and it tries to identify the chassis/body, spot likely upgrades (motor, ESC, wheels), and draft a condition report. It never saves anything on its own: you review what it found and click to copy in whatever's right, same as everywhere else the AI touches your data.
Is the site available in other languages?
Yes. English is always the default, and you can switch to Espaรฑol, Franรงais, Deutsch or Portuguรชs from the footer or the language menu โ it translates the menus, buttons and homepage and keeps you on the same page. Member-written content (Wiki articles, forum posts, marketplace listings) stays in whatever language it was posted in and is never auto-translated, so nothing technical or safety-related gets garbled by a machine translation.
Can a hobby shop really run their whole online store here for free?
Yes. Any claimed, verified shop gets a full storefront โ a page builder with their own colors and logo, a product catalog, cart and checkout โ free. Payment runs through the shop's own Stripe, PayPal, or manual/in-person setup, so every dollar goes straight to them; we never touch the money or take a cut. Their own admin panel handles products, orders, employees, shipping rules, a contacts list, a newsletter and a blog.
Can I start a local RC crew or club here?
Yes โ Crews are free, public or private groups by region with a real members list and a group wall for updates, meetup plans and photos. Anyone can start one; public crews are discoverable and searchable, private crews just stay off the public directory (hand the link to whoever you want to invite) โ either way, one click joins.
