🔧 Toe
Whether the wheels point slightly in (toe-in) or out (toe-out) viewed from above.
Front toe-out sharpens turn-in; rear toe-in adds stability and forward drive.
What it actually does
Toe is whether the wheels point slightly inwards or outwards when viewed from above. Tiny amounts make a large difference to how a car behaves: toe at the front changes how eagerly it turns in, and toe at the rear changes how stable it feels when you get on the throttle.
In practice
Toe-in means the leading edges point towards each other, and it adds stability and predictability. Toe-out means they point away, and it makes the car turn in more sharply at the cost of straight-line calm. Rear toe-in is near-universal on off-road cars because it helps the car put power down without stepping out.
Worth knowing
Toe is measured in fractions of a degree and is easy to overdo. Excess toe at either end scrubs speed away on the straights because the tyres are constantly fighting each other.
