💬 LHS

Local Hobby Shop — the physical store you buy parts and get advice from.

You will see "support your LHS" a lot in forums. Beyond parts on the day you break something, a shop is usually how you find out which local club races and where people bash.

What it actually does

LHS is shorthand for Local Hobby Shop. It comes up constantly in forums and videos because a shop you can walk into is worth more than a slightly cheaper website when you need one part on a Saturday and someone to tell you which one it is.

In practice

A good LHS carries the spares for the models it sells, which is a real argument for buying a brand your local shop actually stocks. Many also run or sponsor a track, which is how a lot of people find their first race.

Worth knowing

Local shops survive on the parts and support, not the headline model price. Buying the car online and then expecting the spares and the advice locally is what closes them.
