Tip-stall on landing approach
A wingtip drops suddenly on approach, at low airspeed and high angle of attack.
💡 The idea: Make the root stall before the tip does.
Try these in order
Make one change at a time and re-test — that's how you learn what your car likes.
-
1
Add washout (1-2° less angle of attack at the tip)
Lets the wing root stall first, so the ailerons still have authority when it matters.
-
2
Reduce aileron throw / add expo at low speed
Less chance of provoking a full stall with an aggressive input.
-
3
Carry a bit more approach speed
Don't fly the approach right on the stall margin.
-
4
Slightly forward CG
Reduces the angle of attack needed for a given speed.
