A reliable way to fake worn, chipped paint down to bare metal or a rust base.

🖌️ How it's done

Spray a base coat (silver/rust) first, a light layer of cheap hairspray over it, then your top colour. Before it fully cures, work water and a stiff brush or toothpick over the edges — the hairspray dissolves and the top colour flakes away to reveal the base.
