What it actually does
TQ means Top Qualifier — the driver who set the best qualifying result and therefore starts the main from pole. Qualifying is usually run over several rounds with your best counting, so TQ reflects consistency and outright pace together.
In practice
Most clubs qualify on a best-single-round or points basis across rounds, then seed the mains from those results. Taking TQ matters beyond bragging rights because starting at the front of a tight, crowded first corner is a real advantage.
Worth knowing
TQ and winning the main are different achievements. Qualifying rewards a clean fast lap; the main rewards surviving traffic and lasting the distance.
