What it actually does
Telemetry is data sent back from the model to your transmitter while you are driving or flying — pack voltage, motor temperature, RPM, signal strength, GPS speed. It turns guesswork into information, and it is the difference between wondering whether your pack is nearly flat and knowing.
In practice
The most useful sensors for most people are pack voltage and temperature. Voltage tells you when to come in before the ESC cuts; temperature warns you about gearing before something is damaged. Most systems support spoken or vibrating alerts at thresholds you set.
Worth knowing
Telemetry needs a receiver and sensors that speak your system's protocol. Sensors are rarely cross-compatible between brands.
