A very thin washer used to take up slack or set the exact spacing of a part.
Common jobs are removing side-to-side play from gears and hubs, and stopping parts rubbing. Sold in fixed thicknesses (0.1 mm, 0.2 mm, 0.5 mm and so on) so you can stack to what you need.
