When a main blade flexes down far enough to hit the tail boom.
It typically happens on a hard landing, an aggressive pull-up or a spool-up in wind at low headspeed. Treat any boom strike as a full inspection job — blades, boom, tail drive and main shaft all need checking before the next flight.
