What it actually does
Blinky is the zero-timing mode required in many stock racing classes. The ESC applies no electronic timing advance at all, which caps the power available and keeps the class about driving rather than about who bought the most aggressive setup.
In practice
The name comes from the LED blinking to show the ESC is in the restricted mode, which lets scrutineers check it at a glance. Combined with a spec motor, it makes stock racing genuinely close, since everyone is working within the same power ceiling.
Worth knowing
Confirm the exact requirement with your club before a race. Classes vary in which ESC modes and motor specifications they permit, and turning up non-compliant means not racing.
