🏎️ Truggy
A 1/8 scale 4WD racer built on buggy running gear but wider, taller and wearing truck bodywork.
The name is literally truck plus buggy — the class grew out of people bolting monster truck parts onto 1/8 buggies.
What it actually does
A truggy is a buggy chassis wearing truck bodywork and larger truck tyres — hence the name. It combines a buggy's handling and suspension geometry with more ground clearance and more grip from the bigger tyres.
In practice
The usual home is 1/8 scale, and truggies race in their own class. The larger tyres and heavier body make them slower than the equivalent buggy through corners but more capable on rough, chewed-up tracks where a buggy is running out of clearance.
Worth knowing
The bigger tyres change the effective gearing. Fit truck tyres to a buggy setup without adjusting gearing and temperatures climb.
