📡 Bind
Pairing a transmitter and receiver so they talk only to each other.
What it actually does
Binding is the one-time pairing that teaches a receiver which transmitter it belongs to. Until it is done the two ignore each other completely, and once done the receiver will only ever listen to that transmitter — which is what stops your car driving off when somebody else switches on nearby.
In practice
The usual procedure is putting the receiver into bind mode with a button or bind plug, then starting the transmitter in its own bind mode. The receiver LED going solid normally means success. Modern 2.4GHz systems store a unique ID, so once bound the link is yours.
Worth knowing
Re-check your failsafe settings after every bind. Binding often resets failsafe to factory defaults, and the whole point of a failsafe is that it is set the way you meant it.
