🎥 Angle Mode / Horizon Mode
Self-levelling flight modes where the quad returns to level when you release the sticks, unlike acro where it holds whatever attitude you left it in.
Angle mode limits how far the quad can tilt; horizon mode self-levels but still allows full flips and rolls at full stick. Both are useful for a first hover, but most FPV pilots move to acro early because levelling fights you in freestyle.
What it actually does
Angle mode is self-levelling: the sticks command a lean angle, and letting go returns the aircraft to level on its own. It is the mode that makes a first flight survivable, and it is what most camera drones use all the time.
In practice
It limits how far the aircraft can tilt, which caps speed and makes aggressive manoeuvres impossible by design. Horizon mode sits in between, self-levelling around centre but allowing full rotation at full stick.
Worth knowing
Angle mode leans on the accelerometer, so a badly calibrated board will drift. If a quad slowly slides to one side in angle mode, calibrate it on a level surface.
